Chickadee
T'ai Chi in the U.S. and the Peng You Taiji Quan Association
in Canada are sister organizations.
Presently
affiliated with community education programs in Ely and Tower,
Minnesota, Chickadee T'ai Chi offers the 8, 16, and 24 Forms International
Style Taijiquan, 32 Forms Taiji Sword, and 31 Forms Advanced Arthritis
Sun Style. In addition, Taiji Qigong, 6 Forms for Health (seated
and standing) is taught to all groups.
Currently, we teach two intermediate classes - one in Tower and
one in Ely. There is also a class entitled "T'ai Chi for Health".
Less physically demanding, it allows seniors with some limitations
to continue study. We also volunteer at the Ely Nursing Home to
introduce residents and staff to taiji and taiji qigong and hope
to increase our work with rehabilitating patients leaving the
hospital. Again this year we will host the local celebration of
World Taiji/Qigong Day on the last Saturday in April, an opportunity
for publicity and to give classes a chance to demonstrate sets
for family, friends and community.
