Master
Wang Jianhua visited Thunder Bay for the first time in 1998. His
visit was sponsored by the City of Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre
and the Tai Chi Club. The enthusiastic response led to a return
visit in October. During his stay, he initiated new programs in
Yang style Swordplay and Chen style Taiji. He returned to participate
in the Taiji Festivals in 2000 and 2001. His energy, enthusiasm
and teaching ability made him a very popular teacher.
He was born and raised in Beijing, China. By the age of seven
he had begun studying Wushu. He was trained by several top Martial
Arts masters. His specialty is in Xing Yi, Taiji and Shaolin.
He graduated from the Department of Physical Education Department,
Beijing Normal University in 1981. He is a Wushu professor of
the Physical Education Department of Beijing Normal University.
He has published numerous articles and books during his teaching
years. Some of his books have become the National Wushu Standard
texts for University Physical Education Departments. He has been
a visiting Professor teaching Wushu at Universities in Japan,
Russia and Korea.
